The Salvation Army in partnership with Westlake Ace Hardware has wrapped up their annual summer Fan Drive for families in need. Captain Kelsie Moreno said they collected over 350 fans.
Fans are now available for pick up at The Salvation Army at 26th and Potter Street, all you need to pick one up is a valid ID.
“We prioritize the most vulnerable populations when it comes to extreme heat,” said Cpat. Moreno, “Senior citizens, those with chronic health conditions and families with children under the age of five in the household. We saw great generosity from the community. We’re just so glad to be able to distribute these fans to families in the Lincoln area that are in need.”
As the summer heats up and southeast Nebraska’s drought conditions persist, these fans will be vital, said Capt. Moreno, “It’s been very hot, humid. That relief of feeling that air just move through your home instead of just being stale and standing there really does help people quite a bit.”
