A man accused of stealing a vehicle in Ashland was arrested Wednesday night after trying to run from Lincoln Police. LPD Captain Todd Kocian says members of the Lincoln-Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force went to a trailer home near 37th and Cornhusker around 8:45 Wednesday night.
As officers were trying to make contact, Kocian says 28 year old Kennith Smith ran from the trailer and an officer grabbed his arm as he was trying to escape through a gate around the property. Smith and the officer fell to the ground and Smith sustained a cut to his forehead. He was treated at a local hospital for a minor injury and then taken to the Lancaster County Jail.
He was booked for theft by receiving stolen property and fleeing to avoid arrest.
