The Nebraska State Patrol says troopers took three dozen impaired drivers off the roads during the Fourth of July weekend. “Our troopers stayed busy this weekend as Nebraskans gathered to celebrate America,” says Colonel John Bolduc, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “As the summer continues, we encourage all travelers to drive safely no matter how far the road trip takes you.”
Troopers and dispatchers worked overtime from June 30 through July 5 as part of a nationwide effort to keep roads safe for 4th of July travel. In addition to the 36 arrests for driving under the influence, troopers also issued 612 citations for speeding, 19 for speeding over 100 MPH , 30 for open alcohol container and 25 for minor in possession of alcohol.
Troopers also cited 25 people for driving under suspension and 30 for no seat belt. 18 Citations were also issued for improper child restraint. In addition troopers s also performed 278 motorist assists across the state.
