Lincoln Man Found With Explosives For A Second Time

By Tom Stanton Jun 30, 2023 | 11:41 AM

A Lincoln man who was found with explosives in his vehicle in January was arrested again following a traffic stop near 27th and N Street just before 2:00 Thursday morning.

Sergeant Chris Vollmer says during the stop a K-9 was brought in to sniff the vehicle, which resulted in a search of the car.

“Located in the vehicle was a container of smokeless powder, taped together batteries, spool of copper wire, a length of fireworks fuse and a
spent 40mm Rubber Ball round.”

Vollmer says officers also found a small amount of meth and a four inch knife with a brass knuckle hilt.  LPD called for the assistance of a Nebraska State Patrol and Lincoln Fire and Rescue bomb technician.

24 year old Spencer Speidell was arrested and booked on several  charges, including possession of explosives.  He was also arrested five months ago when police found homemade explosives in his vehicle during another traffic stop.
