A Lincoln man riding a bicycle was struck by a car around 5:30 Thursday afternoon near NW 17th and West ‘O’. “The preliminary investigation indicates a cyclist was attempting to cross West ‘O’ Street from north to south and was struck by a 2008 Mitsubishi that eastbound on West ‘O’ Street,” says Sergeant Chris Vollmer.
He says there is a stop sign at the intersection but no marked crosswalk. He says the bicyclist had been drinking prior to the crash. “The 34 year old cyclist was transported to a local hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.”
The driver of the Mitsubishi is a 36-year-old Crete resident who was not injured and has not been cited.
