“Camp 67… Today is the day you’ve been waiting for. Congratulations. We are almost there.”
Words from State Patrol Superintendent Colonel John Bolduc echoed in the Rotunda of the State Capitol on Friday morning, honoring the graduation of 12 state patrol recruits from the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) 67th Basic Recruit Class.
Friends and family filled the ornate room.
“You first demonstrated to Nebraska that you had the character necessary to become a state trooper. Now, upon graduation, you are proving that you have the skills necessary to become a state trooper,” said Colonel Bolduc. “You will discover that this opportunity in front of you is a noble calling that is enjoyable and rewarding. You will have fun at work. You’ll have challenges at work. You will laugh, you will cry, you’ll be exasperated. You will have a front row seat to life. The good, the bad and the ugly.”
The class includes recruits from several communities across Nebraska and others from out of state. Although, Colonel Bolduc said this day would be a binding moment of commonality, “Among this camp…We have moms, dads, brothers, sisters. We have military veterans. We have experienced public safety professionals. But after today, you will have two things in common: Your experience together in camp and the fact that you all became troopers together on the same day.”
Each recruit received their badges and took the oath of office, administered by Secretary of State Robert Evnen. Recruits will now begin service across a variety of communities across the state.
