The 1st degree murder charge filed by the Lancaster County Attorney’s Office against Jahhrasta S. Fletcher, of Lincoln, in the September 25, 2022, death of Robert Michael Brannon, of Omaha, will be dismissed.
Since Fletcher’s arrest, the Lincoln Police Department has continued it’s investigation into the events and circumstances surrounding Brannon’s death. Prosecutors with the Lancaster County Attorney’s Office have worked in coordination with LPD investigators and civilian staff to review all of the available evidence.
County Attorney Pat Condon stated, “Upon reviewing all of the investigative reports, physical evidence, and digital evidence which includes detailed forensic video analysis completed by the Lincoln Police Department, the Lancaster County Attorney’s Office does not believe there is sufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Mr. Fletcher was not acting in self-defense.” Mr. Condon went on to say, “I want to thank the hard-working investigators and other members of the Lincoln Police Department who thoroughly and impartially investigated this incident. My office’s decision has been shared with the family of Robert Michael Brannon and my thoughts are with them.” The dismissal of Fletcher’s charge will also impact previously filed charges against co-defendants that were alleged to have acted as an accessory to a felony.
Fletcher does have other criminal charges pending in the Lancaster County Court. The Lancaster County Attorney’s Office will be filing an Amended Complaint in that case that alleges a crime stemming from the events on and after September 25, 2022. These charges remain mere accusations.
