A wanted man is behind bars after he was arrested by the Narcotics Task Force Monday night. Sergeant Chris Vollmer says investigators were conducting surveillance when they saw 59 year old Joseph Blythe driving near 1st and Cornhusker.

Sergeant Chris Vollmer says Blythe had two arrest warrants and they tried to stop him in a neighborhood near 6th and West Butler. “Investigators exited their vehicle, identified themselves as police, and directed Blythe out of his vehicle.

Vollmer says Blythe refused.   “He put his vehicle in gear and drove up onto the grass to flee around the police
vehicle.”

He says since they knew Blythe’s identity and the incident was taking place in a residential neighborhood, investigators did not pursue him.  They eventually found Blythe in his vehicle several blocks away.

“Investigators again ordered Blythe out of his vehicle and this time he complied and was taken into custody,” Vollmer says.   The found him with nearly 3.1g of suspected methamphetamine. Blythe was transported to jail and booked on three felonies, possession of a controlled substance, driving during revocation and operating a vehicle to avoid arrest.

He was also cited on for four misdemeanors.
