Lincoln Police say a woman has been cited after a head on crash Thursday morning at Homestead Expressway and Warlick Blvd.  It happened around 7:30 a.m. and snarled traffic for several hours.

Captain Todd Kocian says a Jeep Grand Cherokee was northbound on Homestead Expressway and, according to a witness, ran a red light.  The Jeep then slammed head-on into a ollided with a Chevy pickup that had been southbound on Homestead Expressway and was turning eastbound onto Warlick Boulevard.

“The 33-year-old driver of the Cherokee was cited & released for violating the traffic signal and having an open alcohol container in the vehicle.” Kocian says she was not impaired at the time of the crash.

There was also a nine year old child in the vehicle. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.  The other driver sustained minor injuries and did not need to go to the hospital.
