Today through Sunday, Capital Humane Society will be offering special adoption fees on dogs, cats and small critters.

The Pool Pawty special adoption promotion is for dogs & cats 5 months or older and on all small critters such as guinea pigs, rabbits and birds. This promotion begins today (6/7) and go through Sunday (6/11), at the Pieloch Pet Adoption Center at 6500 S. 70th Street.

Facilities in Lincoln are currently caring for lots of animals right now due to unexpected overcrowding. Capital Humane Society Executive Director Matt Madcharo told KLIN News, “So far in the month of June…[in] just six days, we’ve already taken in 138 pets. It has put the shelter, especially on the dog side, basically at 100% capacity. So we need to find some homes for some pets quickly and free up some space in the shelter.”

“Shelter pets…you can find just about any breed, personality, age of a pet, there’s something for everybody. Just come on in…There might be a pet that catches your eye that you meet, and their personality just really shines through when you see them in person, that maybe they don’t catch your eye when you’re looking online,” said Madcharo, making his pitch to families to give the gift of a new family to animals in the shelter.

Adoption fees for dogs and cats 5 months or older along with all small critters will be reduced 50% during the promotion. License and rabies deposits may apply for dog and cat adoptions.

Hours at the Pieloch Pet Adoption Center are:

Tuesday-Friday — 11:30am-7:00pm
Saturday-Sunday — 12:00pm-5:00pm
