Lincoln Police say a man who was reportedly threatening people with a knife in the Haymarket Sunday afternoon was arrested after trying to flee from officers on an electric bike.
Captain Todd Kocian says they were called to the area of 8th and ‘P’ Street around 4:30 Sunday afternoon. He says officers found 33 year old Joseth Botts and tried to stop him, but he fled on the bicycle.
“Botts ultimately fell from the bike near Canopy and ‘O’ Street and was observed to throw an item into a nearby trash can,” Kocian says. He says the item was found to be a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue.
After a brief struggle Botts was taken into custody. The bicycle had been stolen earlier in the day. Botts was arrested for terroristic threats, possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence and resisting arrest.
