The Salvation Army of Lincoln is once again teaming up with Westlake Ace Hardware stores to try and keep needy families cool this summer. Major Mark Anderson tells KLIN News their annual fan drive is underway and will run through the end of June.
“All you have to do is roundup at any one of six Lincoln locations or you can make a monetary donation right there at the register,” Anderson. He says the money will be used to purchase the fans. Last year $3,800 was raised and that was used to buy nearly 300 fans, which were then distributed by the Salvation Army.
He says online donations can also be made. Residents can also drop off fans in good working condition at the Salvation Army at 27th and Holdrege. Anderson says every single penny donated goes directly towards fans to benefit the local community.
