Since November 2022, the Nebraska Leading Economic Indicator has risen with the exception of December. The April Indicator rose .75% according to the University of Nebraska Bureau of Business Research.
Four of the six components were higher in April including airline passenger increases, the dollar exchange rate, initial unemployment claims and business expectations. Building permits and manufacturing hours indexes declined slightly.
The increase in the leading indicator, which is designed to predict economic growth six months into the future, suggests that the Nebraska economy will grow through October of 2023.
