The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Nebraska Special Olympics made it’s way to the steps of the Hall of Justice in Lincoln on Wednesday afternoon. About 40 runners representing Lincoln Police and the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office joined volunteers during the event.
The annual torch run helps raise money and awareness for athletes who have intellectual disabilities. The run started in the panhandle last week and will end in Omaha on Thursday night when the torch arrives at Creighton University where the Opening Ceremonies will be held.
That will be followed by the Summer Games. More than 6,000 athletes will compete in a variety of sporting events over four days.
