Lincoln non-profit People’s City Mission (PCM) has teamed up with local software development company Don’t Panic Labs for the 6th annual Towel Day drive. PCM provides a towel to each of their guests when they come in and with the number of people they help, this quickly adds up to a lot of towels, which the mission often purchases. Towels are an easily overlooked need.
Towel Day is a reference to the late author Douglas Adams and his cult-classic science fiction novel The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
“A towel, [The Guide] says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have.” – Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Towel Day (May 25) started as a worldwide celebration to honor the memory of the late Douglas Adams. “Don’t Panic Labs” company name was inspired from the book as well.
