Lincoln City Council Monday swore in new and reelected city officials Monday.
Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird was sworn in for her second term after winning reelection in May. Also cinching reelection, James Michael Bowers was sworn in for the District 1 city council seat.
For newcomers, Tom Duden was elected to fill the District 2 seat vacated by Richard Meginnis who did not seek reelection. Justin Carlson will fill the District 3 seat vacated by Michelle Suarez who also did not seek reelection.
Former chairperson Tammy Ward vacated the district 4 seat, which will be filled by the notably young Brodey Weber, age 25.
Council members Sändra Washington, Tom Beckius and Bennie Shobe (representing the city At-Large) will be continuing their terms.
Tom Beckius was elected as the new chairperson for the council, by unanimous vote. Sändra Washington was elected as vice chair, also by unanimous vote.
