A 51 year old man is accused of assaulting a Lincoln Police officer during a traffic stop near NW 12th and West Adams Streets around 10:15 Friday night. Sergeant Chris Vollmer says Toby Kirstine was not involved with the vehicle that was stopped.
“The man walked up and began yelling at the officer, accusing police of following him. The officer instructed the man to leave and attempted to return their attention to the traffic stop,” Vollmer says.
He says Kirstine did not leave and continued to approach the officer. “The officer attempted to back away and maintain some distance between them. The man persisted and the officer attempted to take him into custody.”
He says Kirstine was taken to the ground and grabbed and pulled the officer’s ear in the process. He was booked into jail for assault on an officer and cited and released for resisting arrest and obstructing a police officer.
