The city of Lincoln kicks off its annual Bike To Work Week event today. Residents are encouraged to ditch the car keys and opt for some exercise on the way to work by taking your bicycle.

Participants can peddle for more than just a sweat. Numerous Lincoln businesses are offering various discounts and deals for those biking around the city. Visit lincoln.ne.gov/biketowork to learn more. Additionally, attendees of the wrap up event on Friday will be entered into a raffle to win prizes.

Riders can earn extra entries into the raffle by completing the new Bike Bingo card. Bring completed bingo cards to the wrap-up event for an extra entry into the raffle for each card. Click here to download.

Events for the week include:

May 15th, 7-9 am: Join us at the Telegraph Mill (330 S. 21st Street, accessible from the Billy Wolff Trail and N Street Cycle Track) for a free drip coffee and pastries as you ride into work!

May 18th: Meet up for the Tour de Lincoln SE Quadrant Ride at the Jayne Snyder Trail Center (228 N 21st Street, located on the Billy Wolff Trail). Check out GPTN for more information. While there, provide feedback on the future Q & P Street Bike Lanes Project which has an open house at the Trail Center from 5 to 7 pm. For more details head to the project website.

May 19th, 5-7pm: Wrap up bike to work week with a celebration at the Jayne Snyder Trail Center(228 N 21st Street, located on the Billy Wolff Trail). There will be cupcakes, music, and drinks available for purchase. This all ages, family friendly event includes a raffle with great prizes for all attendees. Complete your Bike Bingo card for an extra entry into the raffle!

May 21st: The Prairie to Prairie is a non-timed/non-competitive race consisting of a 5K run at Pioneers Park Nature Center on the trails, a 15 mile bike ride from the Nature Center, through the park on hard surfaces and out of the park via the east entrance and along gravel roads to Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center, and a 5K run through the Spring Creek Prairie.
