A northwest Lincoln homeowner was suddenly on the phone with Lincoln Animal Control after a wild adolescent fox appeared in her propped open doorway and bolted into her home, eventually stowing away in a kids toy room.
Lincoln Animal Control arrived on the scene and quickly located the critter, unsuccessfully camouflaged amongst children’s books and toy trucks.
The fox was safely captured and released back into the wild. The residents of the home, arriving officer, and young fox were all unharmed.
KLIN News spoke with Lincoln Animal Control Manager, Steve Beal, “This is the time of the year when the foxes just have had litters recently. So some of these foxes are quite young and they’re curious, they’re out and about and they’re looking for food. So this little guy probably thought, ‘Well, there might be something in this house,” Beal laughed, “Trouble.”
Beal added, “As cute as these little critters can be… they still can bite and they will… just leave them alone and give them their space.”
