Gaylor Baird Re-Elected Lincoln Mayor

With just under 78,000 votes counted Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird has won re-election for another 4-year term as Lincoln’s Mayor. With approximately 3,000 early vote ballots and 690 provisional ballots left to count, challenger Suzanne Geist trails Gaylor Baird by more than that total.

Unofficial Final Results show Gaylor Baird garnering 54.2% of the vote to Geist’s 45.6%.  Prior to her victory Gaylor Baird appeared on the Dan Parsons Show on KLIN and talked about her goals for a second term.

“Going to continue working with our community and partnering and collaborating to keep this a very safe community.  We’re going keep investing in streets that grow economic opportunity and other vital infrastructure that helps make our City strong and successful.”

The Lincoln City Council will remain dominated by Democrats 6 to 1 with District 2 elected Republican Tom Duden to replace Richard Maginnis.

In the City Council races decided Tuesday, in District 1, James Michael Bowers was re-elected defeating Taylor Wyatt 52.4% to 47.4%

In District 2 it was, Tom Duden with 54.9% over Bailey Feit with 44.9%

District 3, it was Justin Carlson defeating Elina Newman 60.8% to 38.7%

And in District 4, Brodey Weber with 58.8% defeated Wayne Reinwald with 40.8%.

Chris Stokes and Chris Hove were elected as Airport Authority Directors and the LPS Board of Education winners were Piyush Srivastav, Annie Mumgaard and Dr Bob Rauner.

Voter Turnout was just over 44%
