The statewide burn ban will expire at midnight tonight (Thursday, April 20, 2023). Initially, the order was put into place late last week to reduce the risk of wildfires.
Governor Jim Pilllen re-issued the ban on Monday as high winds and dry conditions persisted. The newly signed Executive shifts the authority to waive open burning back to local fire chiefs.
