One person was injured after a two vehicle crash at 17th and Benton around 9:30 Thursday morning. Witnesses tell KLIN News a car traveling west bound on Benton slammed into the side of a northbound pickup.
The truck then rolled over and came to rest on it’s side near the front yard of a home. There were two people in each vehicle. LFR tells KLIN News one person was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Rodney Vlcek has lived in the Belmont neighborhood for years and says crashes like this one are common. “We’ve had numerous accidents here and it’s just people aren’t yielding. They’re in a hurry and you’ve got to slow down. Somebody’s going to get killed eventually.”
Vlcek and other neighbors tell KLIN News not having a yield or stop sign at the intersection is also a concern. They believe having signs will help slow people down and make their neighborhood safer for everyone.
