The investigation is continuing after fire damaged two trailer homes near 1st and Cornhusker on Wednesday afternoon. LFR Captain Nancy Crist says one home was engulfed in flames when crews arrived.
Due to the windy conditions the flames extended to a neighboring mobile home. “The home is considered a total loss causing approximately $80,000 in damage to the structure and contents and $7,000 to the exterior of the mobile home next door,” Crist says. That home was vacant.
A dog was found dead inside the mobile home where the fire started. None of the residents were home at the time of the fire. Crist says investigators are trying to determine how the fire started.
A firefighter was injured battling the fire and was treated at a local hospital.
