A man is facing charges after police say he tossed a bottle of pop at an officer while trying to flee from a traffic stop. Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says just before 7:00 Sunday evening LPD made a traffic stop near 17th and G Street.
During a traffic stop Thomas says officers suspected drug activity and requested the help of a service dog. While waiting for the dog, officers asked the driver and the passenger to get out of the vehicle.
She says the passenger, 50-year-old Larry Lynch, threw an open soda bottle at one of the officers as he turned to run away. Officers caught up with him and the officer described seeing Lynch reach near his waistband.
A Taser was used and Lynch was taken into custody and searched. During the search 6.4 grams of suspected Methamphetamine was found in his possession. After Lynch was medically cleared Lynch was taken to jail.
He was cited for possession of controlled substance with the intent to deliver, resisting arrest, and obstructing a police officer.
