Lincoln Police say 54 year old man was killed Saturday night after his vehicle went off a bridge and ended up in Oak Creek. LPD Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says it happened around 7:00 Saturday night when Chad Bright was driving near 11th and Saunders Avenue.
“When Bright turned from Saunders onto North 11th, his pickup truck went onto the median curb and hit a sign,” Thomas says. “He continued driving on the median south toward the bridge over Oak Creek, driving off the bridge and into the embankment below.”
Thomas says Bright was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are not sure if alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash. Lincoln Fire & Rescue Captain Nancy Crist says it was a fairly complicated scene as crews had to work their way down the embankment and into the water to extricate Bright.
She says there was also hazardous materials in the water from the truck.
