Lincoln Police have arrested a 17 year old boy for the shooting death of an 18 year old man at a house party near 27th and Fair last Friday night. Police Chief Teresa Ewins says Kashuan McCree of Lincoln was arrested Thursday by LPD and U.S. Marshals in Detroit, Michigan.
McCree is charged with first degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony. Ewins says McCree and 18 year old Damien Brave were attending a house party and had a dispute over a bag that Brave was holding.
“That is when McCree fired multiple rounds from a handgun, hitting Brave several times,” Ewins says. Brave was taken to a Lincoln hospital where he was pronounced dead. Ewins didn’t say what they found in the bag.
Several other high school aged partygoers fled the house as officers arrived. Ewins says McCree is the only suspect in this case. She says McCree fled to Detroit where a family member lives. It’s unknown when he will be brought back to Nebraska.
“It is important our community knows our department will track down suspects wherever an investigation leads using all available resources to bring those responsible to justice,” Ewins says.
