Strong spring winds will continue through part of Saturday as another storm system moves through Nebraska. That National Weather Service has issued multiple weather advisories due to strong, gusty winds and conditions favorable for fires to spread rapidly. As of early Friday morning:

South winds this morning 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. After 5 pm this afternoon, winds will turn to the west and increase to 30 to 40 mph with gusts as high as 50 mph. The area included in these advisories cover portions of southwest and west central Iowa and east central, northeast and southeast Nebraska.
Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. Scattered power outages are possible.
A Wind Advisory means that winds of 30 to 39 mph are expected for one hour or longer, or winds of 45 to 57 mph for any duration. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

* Affected Area…In Iowa, Mills, Montgomery, Fremont and Page. In Nebraska, Lancaster, Cass, Otoe, Saline, Jefferson, Gage, Johnson, Nemaha, Pawnee and Richardson.
* Winds…West 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.
* Relative Humidity…As low as 30 percent.
* Impacts…because of the strong winds and low relative humidity, any fires that start could be very difficult to control.
