Lincoln-Lancaster County Election Commissioner Todd Wiltgen is reminding early voters who have not returned their ballots for Lincoln’s Primary Election that ballots must be received in his office no later than 8:00 PM on Election Day, Tuesday, April 4th. Through midday on Friday, the Election Commission has only received about 19,000 of the 34,000 early vote ballots it mailed out.
The best method to return the ballot will be to drop the ballot off at the Election Commissioner’s Official Ballot Drop Box which is located on the north side of the Election Commissioner’s Building, 601 North 46th Street, Lincoln. It is open twenty-four hours a day.
Voters may check the status of their early vote ballot on the Nebraska Secretary of State’s Voter View website at: votercheck.necvr.ne.gov
Commissioner Wiltgen also reminds early voters that Nebraska law does not allow early vote ballots to be returned to a voter’s polling location on Election Day.
Any voter who has requested an early vote ballot and attempts to vote at their polling place on Election Day will be required to use a provisional ballot which will require additional time and paperwork. Provisional ballots will not be counted until the Election Office verifies that the voter did not return their early vote ballot which can take several days following the election.
For questions regarding early voting, you can contact the election office at (402) 441-7311.
