A house fire near 25th and J Streets early Saturday morning injured two people and killed four family dogs.  LFR Captain Nancy Crist says the call came in around 6:00 a.m. “The initial arriving crews reported heavy fire coming from the first floor of the home.”

Crist says they learned that there were two victims inside the house.  “Excessive personal items made navigating difficult.  LFR crews entered  and rescued two people.”

Both were taken to a Lincoln hospital to be treated and will survive.  After the fire was extinguished firefighters found four dogs dead inside the house.  Several other animals made it out safely.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and damage is estimated at $150-thousand.
