Lincoln Police conducted a special enforcement project on St. Patrick’s Day. A grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation- Highway Safety Office provided funding for the special enforcement detail.

LPD began the evening by conducted 54 alcohol compliance checks at bars and other businesses that sell alcohol.  LPD says there were no violations reported.

Officers then hit the streets to conduct traffic enforcement. Of the 91 citizens police made contact with there were four people arrested for DUI, three from alcohol and one for drugs.   Four citations were issued for no valid registration and three traffic citations issued.  Officers also cited three people for narcotics violations.

The Nebraska State Patrol says statewide they arrested 12 impaired drivers during the enforcement campaign from Thursday through Saturday last week.  Troopers also issued 144 speeding citations.
