Lincoln Police have provided and update to an earlier story about bogus yard signs popping up across the city advertising a liquidation auction this Saturday at the Marriott Hotel. Initially, LPD said hotel staff indicated there was no sale being held there at 1:00 p.m.
LPD issued a statement Thursday night saying there was a miscommunication regarding the validity of the advertised auction. “Upon further communication with hotel staff, we were informed there is a sale/auction scheduled for this Saturday at the Marriott, however the specific items that are to be sold is unknown at this time.”
The signs promote an opportunity to bid on government seized luxury items, including jewelry, a Lamborghini and famous paintings.
