Kilts, Lucky Charms, corned beef, and of course green beer, all come together this weekend at Haymarket’s staple McKinney’s Irish Pub.
2023 is a special year for McKinney’s. Doors opened for the Irish pub in 2013, making this their 10th annual Saint Patrick’s Day Celebration.
KLIN News spoke with McKinney’s General Manager, Shelby Herman. Expressing lots of excitement for the event, she said “Just come and experience it and have a good time.” Reiterating, there will be more than just food and drinks present. P street between 7th and 8th street will be blocked off right outside the pub, with many gathering under a large tent.
TV’s will be set up showing the March Madness basketball games. Bring your greatest kilt and compete in the annual Lincoln Ancient Order Hibernians ST. Patrick’s Day Kilt Content. Or channel your inner child for the famous Lucky Charms eating contest.
The celebration will span both Friday (bar opens 9 a.m.) and Saturday (bar opens 11 a.m.) with the street party opening up at 2 p.m. both days. Live bands and DJ’s will keep the party going. Herman said their unveiling a 10th anniversary cocktail which she could not disclose the recipe for. Plus green beer specials and a plethora of Irish foods including corn beef and coleslaw.
