Electric Scooters Return to Lincoln After Successful Pilot Season

By Chase Porter Mar 15, 2023 | 3:57 PM

Last spring you may remember seeing people zip around downtown Lincoln on electric scooters.  Now that were entering better weather, the ‘Lime’ scooters have made their return.

The scooters will now be here to stay after a 16-month pilot program that spanned late 2020 through May of 2021. The area of service is the same as before, mainly in the downtown area and expanding slightly to the south and east.

Roberto Partida is the Transportation Planner with LTU and says the scooter program began on Wednesday.  Riders must be at least 18 years of age and scooters are not allowed on sidewalks.  The City has a contract with Lime for up to 250 scooters.  They are working to bring a second company on board.

For a complete list of guidelines you can find more on the Lincoln Transportation and utilities website.
