On a 4-2 vote Monday the Lincoln City Council approved plans for a 22-story Lincoln Bold skyscraper at 9th and P Streets.   Council members Sandra Washington and Michelle Suarez voted against the project. “This project is exciting, but I can’t support the project in this location,” Washington says.

Suarez says parking was a concern for her.  “That is my most important concern at this time is how it would impact local businesses.”  Councilman Tom Beckius also has issues with parking, but voted to support the project. ” I have had discussions with Urban Development to make sure that they are in constant discussion with surrounding businesses to make sure this process is as painless as it possibly can be through the construction process.”

The council also agreed to allow Lincoln Bold to apply for $24 million in Tax Increment Financing from the city and nearly $720,000 for affordable housing.   The 22 story skyscraper would become Lincoln’s second tallest building. It will feature office space, luxury condos and apartments.
