Lincoln Police are investigating after a building was vandalized Saturday night after a Lancaster County Republican Party event. Party chairman Samuel Lyon says hateful insults were spray painted on the the building, Suite One Eleven near 70th and A Street.
He says protestors showed up at the event, which featured conservative speaker Charlie Kirk. Lyon condemned “the violent and destructive” actions of the protestors. “We stand firmly against any attempts to silence opposing views through violent means.”
The venue targeted is a minority and female-operated business. “The owners of the venue have worked tirelessly to build their business and provide a space for events welcoming all and that foster community relationships,” Lyon says. “We call on all members of the community to condemn such violence and vandalism and to embrace a spirit of civility, respect, and open dialogue as we work towards building a better society for all.”
Lincoln Police said that the building had around $150 in damage.
