Lincoln Police were called to investigate a suspicious vehicle near 8th and Pioneers just before midnight Saturday. Sergeant Chris Vollmer says a 20 year old man was driving his truck near the grounds of the Nebraska State Penitentiary and got stuck.
Vollmer says David Truax got out of his truck and walked to 14th and Pioneers where witnesses said it appeared he was attempting to damage vehicles in the Universal Cold Storage lot. Officers caught up with Truax at a service station near 14th and Center Park.
“Truax appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance and the initial officer attempted to take him into custody,” Vollmer says. “Truax was initially cooperative, but upon seeing the second arriving officer, began fighting against being handcuffed.”
Truax was taken to an area hospital where he was evaluated and medically cleared to be booked into jail. Truax was cited for resisting arrest and obstructing a police officer
