Civic Nebraska’s long-running Civic Saturday returns this weekend on Feb. 18. The event gives residents the chance to gather with friends and strangers to reckon with, reflect, and talk about the founding creed in the United States and how democracy can only work if people collectively believe it can.
Participants can take in live music, poetry, and civic readings by local artists. The day will focus on why the confidence, resolve, and imagination of everyday citizens are needed in tough times. Civic Saturday will take place from 11 AM to noon at the Nebraska History Museum at 131 Centennial Mall North. The event is free, and it’s encouraged to RSVP in order to ensure a seat.
