Nebraska State Senator Suzanne Geist has picked up the endorsement of the Lincoln Police Union in her bid to become the next mayor of Lincoln. During a news conference Thursday, Union president Jeff Sorensen said Geist shares their vision for improving public safety “so that we all have a safe place to live, work and raise out families. She has consistently stood with us, and we are proud to stand with her in the upcoming election.”
Geist emphasized that public safety will be a top priority in her campaign. “As your next mayor, I will be committed to using every tool at my disposal to protect the people of this city to crack down on violent crime and to invest in proven solutions that keep Lincolnites safe.”
Geist will be challenging current mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird this spring. Lincoln radio executive Stan Parker is also running for mayor. The primary will be held on April 4 and the general election will be May 2.
