Man Cited After Entering Lincoln Middle School

By Tom Stanton Jan 24, 2023 | 11:29 AM

There some anxious moments at Irving Middle School near 22nd and Van Dorn Monday morning.  A school resource officer notified staff that a man had entered the school around 7:45 a.m.

“The male displayed lethargic behavior leading the reporting party to believe he was under the influence of an unknown substance,” says LPD Sergeant Chris Vollmer.  The man then left the building and got into his vehicle.  Vollmer says the man struck a parked car in the lot and continued south across Van Dorn Street and struck a fence at low speed.

Vollmer says the 20 year old man was contacted by the SRO.  He was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries and then cited and released for trespassing, DUI, negligent driving, no seatbelt and no insurance.

LPD says the man claimed to be at the school to visit a family member but it’s not known if a relative was actually at the school.
