Argument Over Dogs Led To Deadly Lincoln Shooting

By Tom Stanton Jan 23, 2023 | 11:06 AM

Lincoln Police say 18 year old Julian Martinez was the victim of Saturday’s deadly shooting outside a home near 18th and Euclid. Assistant Chief Brian Jackson says a neighborhood argument between Martinez and 29 year old Armon Rejai escalated quickly and led to gunfire.

Jackson says when officers arrived around 10:20 a.m. they found Martinez suffering from a gunshot wound. “Dispatchers directed officers to an apartment at that same location where the caller stated he had just shot someone.”

Martinez died from his wounds at a Lincoln hospital.   Rejai was booked for 2nd degree homicide and use of a weapon to commit a felony. Police say Rejai and Martinez lived in adjacent properties.

Police recovered a handgun belonging to Rejai at the scene.  No other weapons were found.
