Nebraska could hardly have looked different on Sunday from the last time they took on a ranked Maryland team.

In December, the Huskers stunned the then-No. 20 Terrapins at their place 90-67. In Lincoln, Nebraska struggled to make baskets or even hold onto the ball in 69-54 loss.

The game was close for the first seven minutes, as Nebraska managed to only trail 8-6. But Maryland went on a 10-0, including eight made free throws, to close out the first quarter.

The second quarter began with a 9-3 run as the Terrapins stretched their lead to 23 points by halftime.

Nebraska put together a 14-4 run in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late.

The Huskers shot just 30.6 percent for the game, including 5-of-27 on 3s. Nebraska tied a season-high with 22 turnovers.

On the other end, Maryland didn’t shoot much different, going 30.3 percent from the floor and adding four made 3s in 18 attempts. The real difference came at the free throw line.

Nebraska shot 11-of-20 at the stripe. Maryland: 25-of-37.

There wasn’t a strong foul discrepancy for the game, with Nebraska being called for 27 and Maryland for 22. Most of the fouls the Terrapins drew were of the shooting variety, which they took advantage of.

There was also extremely inconsistent officiating, but that isn’t anything new for the Big Ten Conference.

Jaz Shelley was the only Husker to reach double-figures, notching 10 points to go with six rebounds and five assists.

Sam Haiby led Nebraska with 12 rebounds, falling shy of a double-double with nine points.

Alexis Markowski also did well on the boards, grabbing 10. But the star sophomore didn’t play the final 15 minutes of the game as she picked up her fourth foul midway through the third quarter.

Nebraska, now 12-8 on the year and 4-5 in Big Ten play, heads to No. 10 Iowa Saturday.
