By Tom Stanton Jan 10, 2023 | 1:27 PM

A woman found hiding in a sofa was one of four people arrested in connection with a burglary at a self storage unit near South Coddington and West O Street.

Sergeant Chris Vollmer says officers were called around 4 p.m. on Monday to Sasquatch Self Storage to investigate a break-in.  The two victims told police that someone had forced their way in to their  storage unit and stole about $1,500 worth of items sometime the night before.

“It is believed the suspects made entry from the neighboring unit by removing a panel from the shared wall,” Vollmer says.   The victims say about $1,500 worth of items were stolen.

Police learned that 58-year-old Jeffrey Adams was renting the neighboring unit and that 39-year-old Julie Rodgers frequented the unit.  A review of security camera footage showed Rodgers driving a Ford Escape and arrived at the storage facility with and 36-year-old Brandyn Tomes around 10 p.m. Sunday

Vollmer says officers contacted Tomes at his Lincoln home and found the Ford Escape, which was reported stolen on Christmas Day from Omaha. “Items reported stolen in the burglary, a user amount of methamphetamine and a handheld type of a homemade firework were located inside,” Vollmer says. Investigators eventually determined Adams removed the vehicle from Omaha and provided it to Tomes and Rodgers.

Officers tried to contact Rodgers at her home, but got no answer.  After getting a search warrant officers went inside and found Rodgers hiding inside a sofa.   Police also found found a user amount of meth, drug paraphernalia, suspected stolen items and a 9 mm handgun in the home.  56 year old James Roper was also found in the home.

Rodgers was arrested for burglary, theft by receiving, possession of a controlled substance and possession of burglar’s tools.  Tomes was arrested for burglary, theft by receiving, possession of burglar’s tools possession of an explosive device and possession of a controlled substance.

Adams was booked for theft be receiving and Roper was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
