Jim Pillen Sworn In As 41 Governor Of Nebraska

By Tom Stanton Jan 5, 2023 | 4:11 PM

Jim Pillen was sworn in as the 41st governor of Nebraska Thursday afternoon along with Lt. Governor Joe Kelly. During his inaugural speech Pillen said he is honored and humbled to be the leader of the state.

We live in a very special place where the son of a tenant farmer and a seamstress can be elected to lead the greatest state in America,” Pillen said at the opening of his inaugural address.

Pillen says transformational tax change is needed now.  He called Nebraska’s tax code “burdensome and uncompetitive.”  He also called for changes to the state aid formula to schools so every student in Nebraska benefits.  The current system leaves the majority of school districts without the aid.

Pillen wants to work with the Legislature to make Nebraska more attractive to young people raised in the state and those from other states.
