A big announcement was made at the Lincoln Airport Thursday morning. Burrell Aviation of Colorado announced a $65 million project to develop 30 acres of property into an air cargo hub.
“It is our expectation that it will be 210,000 square feet that we plan to build over time here at the airport,” says Roger Wilson, Chief Strategy Officers for Burrell Aviation.
The Lincoln Airport Authority approved the agreement that calls for a 30 year lease, which could be extended to 50 years. Burrell Aviation will invest and develop the site’s facilities and secure anchor tenants interested in making Lincoln Airport a critical hub for air cargo and other aviation-related activities.
Wilson tells KLIN News cold storage and aircraft maintenance are some of the industries they are trying to attract. Ground will be broken later this year and the first tenants could start moving into the 210,000 square foot facility in 2025.
He says the development could add 180-350 permanent jobs with salaries in the $60,000 to $80,000 range.
