Lincoln stands to gain unprecedented glory. On the weekend of Dec. 31 to Jan. 1, Lincoln’s brand new city flag will go mast to mast with that of Columbia, South Carolina in the final of a Twitter flag tournament to determine the best city flag on the North American continent.
The vexillological extravaganza, which has seen 80 flags compete in a World Cup-style round robin and elimination bracket, comes to a banner-waving conclusion on the social media platform. Polls open at 11 AM CST and will remain open until early in the morning on New Year’s Day. By noon on Jan. 1, Lincoln’s fate will be decided.
