Lincoln Police are investigating the city’s 11th homicide of the year. Police Chief Teresa Ewins says officers were called to the area of 20th and Washington around 12:30 Friday morning.

“There was a report of shots fired.  They found a victim, a 38 year old male, with gunshot wounds,” Ewins says.  She says life-saving attempts by LPD and LFR were unsuccesful.  She says the unidentified man was found in a white Jeep Patriot that had crashed.

“Throughout the night, investigators processed the scene and canvassed the area gathering additional evidence, Ewins says.  “We do not have any information that would suggest there is any ongoing or targeted threat to the safety of the public, however, an arrest has not been made at this time.”

This investigation is in the very early stages. The Lincoln Police Department is asking anyone with information or video involving the victim’s vehicle to come forward by calling 402.441.6000. If they wish to remain anonymous to call Crime Stoppers at 402.475.3600.
