For the first time since the pandemic began, Roper and Sons Funeral Home in Lincoln is hosting its Blue Christmas event. The service is a time for individuals and families who are grieving the absence of loved ones to find support in a season usually reserved for yuletide joy.
“We’re just offering a space for people to come and have a little bit of time together with some readings and some music and support together,” Rebecca Shane, Marketing and Outreach Coordinator at Roper and Sons told KLIN News. “There are some scriptural readings as well as poetry. Some sacred music as well as secular. We’re trying to make it inclusive as much as possible to welcome anyone from any sort of perspective or however they might be feeling at the time.”
Registration is not needed. Attendees should go to Roper and Sons’ South Chapel located at 3950 Hohensee Dr off of 40th St and Yankee Hill. The event begins at 3 PM.
