The University of Nebraska State Museum-Morrill Hall will close Dec. 19 through Jan. 9 for essential maintenance. Work being done during the closure will prepare the facility for additional and delayed maintenance projects that will take place from spring 2023 through the early part of 2024. The renovations are being made to address matters in energy conservation, visitors with disabilities, and a new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system.
The state Legislature approved funding for deferred maintenance projects at the University of Nebraska, including multiple projects at Morrill Hall, in April 2021. Susan Weller, director of the NU State Museum, said in a statement, “We’re grateful to the Legislature for their support of our deferred maintenance projects.
“We’re excited about the upcoming facilities work and can’t wait for our members and the public to experience the updates across the museum once the work is completed.”
A work schedule should be confirmed in the early part of the new year.
