Nebraska has a new head football coach. Matt Rhule was introduced as the 31st coach in Nebraska football history by UNL Athletic Director Trev Alberts Monday afternoon at Memorial Stadium. Rhule was joined by his wife and three children.
Rhule said he’s ready to get to work rebuilding the football program. “We can absolutely get University of Nebraska football exactly where it’s supposed to be. It will be hard, it may take time, but it will be done,” Ruhle says.
Rhule, most recently the head coach of the Carolina Panthers, says winning the line of scrimmage will be the key to success. “We want to have fast players, explosive players, want to have speed and want to have great quarterback play, but at the end of the day through the weight room and recruiting we want to have a physical team that can control the line of scrimmage and control the game,” Rhule says.
Alberts began the news conference by thanking Mickey Joseph for the work he did as the interim coach following the dismissal of Scott Frost after the Georgia Southern game.
