A frightening ordeal for a 20 year old woman early Saturday morning. Lincoln Police were called to ‘Gate 25’ near Canopy Street and Q around 2:30 a.m.
“The victim said she was walking to her vehicle parked in the red parking garage when she noticed a male following her,” says Captain Todd Kocian. He says when she got to her vehicle the man grabbed her and pushed her against the side of her vehicle.
“She started to scream at which time the male pushed his fingers inside her mouth and attempted to force her into the vehicle,” Kocian says. “She bit down on his fingers, and he ran away.”
Kocian says the victim ran from the parking garage and contacted a group of people on the sidewalk and told them what happened. They then searched the parking garage and eventually found 22-year-old Shawn Young of Eufaula, Oklahoma sitting in his vehicle.
They kept him at the scene until police arrived. Young was arrested for 1st degree false imprisonment and cited and released for tampering with physical evidence and 3rd degree assault. Kocian says the tempering charge stems from Young getting rid of some of the clothing he was wearing.
The victim sustained minor injuries to her mouth area.
